  7. Advanced Structural Technology Ltd. (ASTEC), which has been a member of the TWR 
  8. Group since shortly after its formation in 1989, began by producing components 
  9. for the Jaguar XJR-11 Sports prototype racing car, and is perhaps best known 
  10. for producing the Jaguar Sport XJR-15 carbon fibre supercar.

  13. But the firm's expertise in advanced structural engineering has also won it 
  14. business in the aerospace and defence industries, in medical equipment and 
  15. metrology, and in tooling, high speed machinery and robotics.

  18. The company, which is based at Draycott in Derbyshire, specialises in the use 
  19. of advanced composite materials. Components manufactured by the firm have 
  20. included shells for aircrew helmets, wind tunnel blades and measuring machine 
  21. parts, as well as prototype vehicle panels.

  24. Recent accreditation to BS5750  further confirmed the high standards set by a 
  25. company involved in a highly specialised field of structural engineering.

  34. demonstration to them of the importance we place on this aspect of our 
  35. operation," said managing director Mark Knowles.

  39. throughout the United Kingdom, and plans have been drawn up for expansion into 
  40. Europe.

  43. In just two years, ASTEC has grown from a fledgling firm to a highly respected 
  44. company employing 100 people and generating annual turnover of more than £4 
  45. million.
